Rice University Students Reach Out to Small Steps with a Work Day
A group of Rice University students came out on Saturday for a day of work at Small Steps. Twelve volunteers from the University moved 18 yards of mulch to replenish our Jensen campus’ playground in order to maintain a safe “fall zone” for the children. Small Steps has received a great deal of help through Rice’s RSVP Outreach Days. These special events occur three times a year so that members of the Rice community can engage and volunteer with some of Houston’s social service organizations. A Rice Outreach Day in July benefited our DePelchin campus as volunteers replenished sand in the sandbox, washed and detailed Small Steps vans, and cleaned the car seats. To all of our generous and hard-working volunteers from Rice University, thank you from Small Steps!
Special thanks to: Mac Griswold, Director, Rice Community Involvement Center
