SSNC Kindergarten Class Visits West University Fire Department
Small Steps Auxiliary member, Anne Furse, arranged a visit to the West University Fire Department for Mr. Mike’s and Ms. Mary Ellen’s Kindergarten Class. As part of Small Steps’ project approach to learning, students and teachers were invited to visit the Fire Department last week. The students learned about the important jobs of a fireman and emergency response team, how a firetruck and ambulance works, and were even given the opportunity to sit in the driver’s seat of the fire truck!
After the tour of the fire station, the students enjoyed a picnic in the park nearby. Our students returned to school with a new fascination of fire trucks and ambulances, and received a fire engine activity book as a remembrance of their adventure.
We are so appreciative of Anne Furse for organizing this field trip!
