Volunteer Opportunities with Children

Buddy Program
Volunteers work one-on-one with a child for approximately twenty to thirty minutes. Activities include working puzzles, counting activities, reading books, writing names and using manipulatives to improve a specific skill.  The goal of the buddy program is to pair each Small Steps child with an adult in order to have consistent time each week  where they feel cared for.

Reading
Volunteers read books during storytime in the classroom or with children in the morning at breakfast.

Classroom
Volunteers assist in the classrooms with craft activities, centers, science projects or other activities developed by the teacher.

Computers
Volunteers work with one child in the computer lab on age appropriate software to reinforce educational concepts previously introduced in the classroom.

Playground
Volunteers play with children during playground time in the morning or afternoon.

Small Steps Into the Arts Program
Volunteers serve as assistants in the afternoons during the fine arts program.
