Accomplishments
Small Steps Nurturing Center has both empirical and anecdotal confirmation that the program is making a profound difference in the lives of the children and families it serves. Some of Small Steps’ achievements include:
- NAEYC Accreditation: Small Steps is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
- Fiscal Responsibility: Charity Navigator has recognized Small Steps for fiscal responsibility.
- Kindergarten Test Scores Indicate Student Readiness: As a group, Small Steps graduating students show higher scores based on achievement than they did based on aptitude, showing that Small Steps is preparing our graduates to achieve in elementary school.
- Test Results Demonstrate Increased IQ: Year-over-year cognitive testing for Small Steps students, first when they enter at either age 2 or 3, and then a year later, has shown great increases in IQ in the majority of our students. This testing demonstrates that our program is able to help overcome some of the delays our students face and also prepares them to learn in a way that is appropriate for their age group.
- Collaborative Partnerships: Small Steps collaborates with many Houston-area organizations to meet the unique needs of its students.
