American Shooting Center
The Small Steps Clays Classic was started in 2003 to help fund the construction of Small Steps’ second school in the Fifth Ward. Building upon the success of the Energy Classic, the Clays Classic grew in its success and has become an annual draw for many prominent companies. Last year, over 65 corporations, foundations, and individuals came together to sponsor the Clays Classic in support of Houston’s economically at-risk, inner city children.
The tournament format, designed by Gil Ash, consists of 100 targets at ten stations. Additionally, each participant has the opportunity to take advantage of a shooting lesson and is able to participate in shooting games throughout the day. Following the tournament, all participants are invited to the dinner and awards ceremony. A significant number of door prizes are awarded at the conclusion of dinner.
